19th August 2024 - Arezou Badri, a 31-year-old mother of two, was shot by Iranian security forces due to non-compliance with mandatory hijab. She is currently in critical condition at Valiasr Hospital in Tehran, where she recently underwent a second surgery on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
On July 22nd, Badri, who is a mother of 2, was travelling with her friend in their car when police attempted to pull them over with a loudspeaker, giving them a warning about their hijab. When she chose to ignore this warning, police began shooting their car as they were driving off.
30th July 2024 - Professor Javaid Rehman, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran has issued his final damning report about the Iranian Regime's "Atrocity Crimes and Genocide" before the end of his tenure. In this report which he dedicates "to the victims of 'Atrocity Crimes', their families and their loved ones", Professor Rehman touched on several topics surrounding the Iranian regime's crimes against the people of Iran, paying close attention to the 1980s and the mass killings which took place in that decade which he classifies a "genocide"
29th May 2024 - The United Nations has announced it plans to hold a memorial service on the occasion of the death of Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Iranian regime. Dennis Francis, President of the UN General Assembly wrote a letter to Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General, requesting that a memorial be held to "pay tribute to the memory of the late President of the Islamic Republic of Iran", on 30th May at the General Assembly Hall in New York.
The month of March saw several reports published about the situation of human rights in Iran from different organisations, in efforts to expose the Iranian regime's crimes and hold them accountable.
12 December 2023 - A conference was held at the UK House of Lords entitled “Support Iranian People’s Struggle for Human Rights and Justice.”
