30th July 2024 - Professor Javaid Rehman, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran has issued his final damning report about the Iranian Regime's "Atrocity Crimes and Genocide" before the end of his tenure. In this report which he dedicates "to the victims of 'Atrocity Crimes', their families and their loved ones", Professor Rehman touched on several topics surrounding the Iranian regime's crimes against the people of Iran, paying close attention to the 1980s and the mass killings which took place in that decade which he classifies a "genocide"

29th May 2024 - The United Nations has announced it plans to hold a memorial service on the occasion of the death of Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Iranian regime. Dennis Francis, President of the UN General Assembly wrote a letter to Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General, requesting that a memorial be held to "pay tribute to the memory of the late President of the Islamic Republic of Iran", on 30th May at the General Assembly Hall in New York.

This comes as a number of members of both the UN and the EU Parliament have sent messages of condolences following the death of Raisi and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who was the Foreign Affairs Minister of the regime. At the same time, many more representatives have taken to social media with #NotInMyName to show their stance against these condolences.

The month of March saw several reports published about the situation of human rights in Iran from different organisations, in efforts to expose the Iranian regime's crimes and hold them accountable.

Professor Javaid Rehman, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights violations in Iran, called for international investigations into the 1988 massacre of political prisoners and other emblematic events, including disappearances, executions, and the 2019 protests. Professor Rehman's tenure has been extended, continuing as Special Rapporteur for another term.

The UN-appointed Fact-Finding Mission, probing Iran's 2022 protests, concluded the government's repression and gender discrimination constituted crimes against humanity.

Amnesty International's March 6 report unveiled the Iranian authorities' intensified persecution of women and girls, highlighting testimonies revealing the daily hardships faced due to compulsory veiling laws, reflecting a systematic effort to undermine their resistance.

12 December 2023 - A conference was held at the UK House of Lords entitled “Support Iranian People’s Struggle for Human Rights and Justice.”

The conference featured members of both houses of the UK Parliament, jurists, and human rights activists who addressed the conference. They included Lord Alton of Liverpool, Lord Carlile of Berriew, Baroness O’Loan DBE MRIA, and members of the House of Commons, Bob Blackman, Dr. Liam Fox, Steve McCabe, Martyn Day and Jim Shannon.
