11th January 2025 - A group of Political Prisoners has issued an open letter urging international organizations and institutions to use their full capacity to take effective action to halt the execution of three political prisoners: Pakhshan Azizi, Mehdi Hassani, and Behrouz Ehsani, currently held in Evin Prison in Tehran. This came after the Iranian regime's Supreme Court upheld the death sentences for these 3 individuals.

A collective of intellectuals, human rights defenders, and women’s rights activists, including notable figures like Elisabeth Badinter, Ingrid Betancourt, and Laurence Tubiana, call for the immediate release of Maryam Akbari Monfared, Iran's longest serving female political prisoner, Maryam Akbari Monfared, French Le Monde reports on Sunday, 24 November.

Maryam was recently transferred to Qarchak Prison, infamous for its dire conditions, according to reports from Iran, further intensifying global concern over her plight.

14th Oct 2024 - Iran's longest serving female political prisoner, Maryam Akbari Monfared, has had her prison sentence extended once again, after 15 years imprisonment.

Background: Maryam Akbari Monfared was born on December 14, 1975, and is the mother of three daughters. She is one of the most resistant female political prisoners who has chosen to live without bowing down to the mullahs. She was taken to Evin prison “to provide some explanations” at midnight of December 29, 2009, without being able to say goodbye to her daughters. But she never returned home. She was incarcerated because she sought justice for four of her siblings executed in cold blood by the clerical regime in the 1980s. Her sister, Roghiyeh Akbari Monfared, had a little daughter when she was sent to the gallows among the prisoners massacred in the summer of 1988.

19th August 2024 - Five female activists from Gilan Province, located in northern Iran along the Caspian Sea, have been sentenced to a total of 20 years and 7 months in prison by the Iranian judiciary.

The activists—(L-R) Nina Golestani, Negin Edalatkhah, Anahita Hejazi, Rozita Rajaei, and Anahita Doostdar —were involved in media and environmental activities. Each of these women was sentenced by the Third Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht, the provincial capital of Gilan.
