Reports have come that the Iranian Regime secretly executed two boys under the age of 18. The two boys, Mehdi Sohrabifar and Amin Sedaghat, two cousins, were both 15 years old when they were arrested and only 17 years old when they were secretly executed on 25th April 2019.
According to reports, the boys were secretly flogged before they were taken to the gallows to be secretly executed, on April 25th, their families were informed to go to the prison and collect their boys' possessions.
Their court proceedings violated the principle of juvenile justice. Iran remains to be the number one executioner of under-18s in the world, a gross violation of international law.
The practice of subjecting children to police questioning in the absence of a guardian or lawyer violates the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which provides that children in conflict with the law must be guaranteed prompt legal assistance.
